Tour De Brooklyn

Sunday, June 1st

Map of Local Businesses with Tour de Brooklyn Specials

Tour de Brooklyn will start and end in Red Hook at Erie Basin Park next to IKEA. Organized by Transportation Alternatives, the Tour de Brooklyn is a family-friendly 21.5 mile long bike ride that carries 1,200 bicyclists throughout the borough.

To celebrate the Tour de Brooklyn, SBIDC teamed up with the Carroll Gardens Association and Restore Red Hook to promote the local businesses in Red Hook and the Columbia Waterfront District. Residents, visitors, and bicyclists alike can take advantage of these limited time specials at area businesses.

When the Tour riders return, there will be a Tour de Brooklyn Finish Festival from 11-4 at Erie Basin Park. Check out tables from local community groups, grab something to eat from Solber Pupusas and stop by the NYC Bike Jumble, a bicycle flea market. Contact Andrea Devening at for more information.

Passport to Red Hook

SBIDC along with the Red Hook Crit, Restore Red Hook and the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce are very excited to kick off this year’s Passport to Red Hook!  Our goal is to bring attention to the local businesses and build on the buzz of one of the neighborhood’s greatest events, the Red Hook Crit!  Download your Passport to Red Hook here and discover Red Hook’s bars, restaurants, art galleries, and shops…

10,000 Small Business Program

Six Point Craft Ales and Turning Star were recently accepted into the 2011 class of the 10,000 Small Business program, funded by Goldman Sachs and administered by LaGuardia Community College.

Member Testimonial

"SBIDC not only helped Sixpoint find their original location in Brooklyn, but has also been effective beyond the traditional and common needs of a small business (property, equipment, etc).  Once specific example is their guidance and encouragement to apply in the 10,000 Small Businesses Program.  Not only did they spearhead our application and get the ball rolling, but their follow through and thoroughness led to our successful admission to the program." - Shane Welch, President & CEO
