P.A.Y.D. is an innovative direct service program that will simultaneously address business and youth needs that have long gone underserved by existing programs. Through assistance in bid preparation, bid searching, pricing, presentation, and certification, P.A.Y.D. provides businesses with the FREE one on one support needed to compete for government and private contracting opportunities. In turn, businesses will be able to grow and employ disconnected youth in quality positions created from successful contract awards. This program will primarily focus on businesses located in the Sunset Park, Red Hook and Gowanus neighborhoods and the greater Brooklyn area as a whole.

Procurement Access
SBIDC will provide comprehensive technical assistance to businesses to ensure that such firms pass through the necessary preparatory stages that precede contract acquisition. SBIDC will work in collaboration with the LaGuardia Community College Procurement Technical Assistance Center using their state-of-the art technology for bid notifications and in-depth counseling services.
Youth Development
The Sunset Park Alliance (SPA) will work in partnership with SBIDC to coordinate local youth ages 16 to 24 who have been disconnected from traditional educational and workforce opportunities. The SPA will route youth to various training programs administered by local non-profits such as Brooklyn Workforce Innovations, the Center for Family Life, Lutheran Family Services, Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow and Turning Point. At the end of a 1-year cycle, each agency will aim to connect their respective program graduates by directly placing SPA youth into the very firms for which SBIDC has secured new contracts.
