Directions to Sims — The facility is located on the 29th Street Pier (2nd Avenue and 29th Street is the closest intersection). Drive to the end of 29th Street — you will see a security booth as you enter the facility. There is ample free parking.

By subway take the R to 25th Street or the D, N, or R to 36th Street. Walk to 29th Street then down towards the water. Walk all the way down to the end of 29th Street where you see the security booth leading into the Sims property. The event will be held on the 2nd floor of in the administration building in the Recycling Education Center, located near the rear of the property on the right, near the water.

SBIDC presents Red Hook Walks, a street fair on Van Brunt Street that extends between Visitation Place and Van Dyke Street.

Groove to live music coordinated by Sunny’s Bar and Jalopy Theatre and School of Music; learn how to weld at She Weld’s welding workshop; stretch and bend at an outdoor community yoga class; play in an open fire hydrant; enjoy sidewalk cafes and relax on a stretch of grass in the street!

Tour De Brooklyn Finish Festival

Come enjoy the day in sunny Red Hook for the Tour De Brooklyn Finish Festival! The Tour De Brooklyn is a bike tour that starts and ends in Red Hook’s Erie Basin Park, right next to Ikea. This year, the Finish Festival will include local crafts and food for sale, as well as a bike jumble: a large bike market in the park. After you explore the park, come stroll through the neighborhood and check out some of the local businesses offering discounts! SBIDC Promotes Local Businesses at Red Hook Crit

SBIDC is supporting and promoting local businesses in Red Hook this week by promoting them during one of Red Hook’s most famous events: the Red Hook Criterium. The Red Hook Criterium (Crit) is the world’s premier track bike race featuring professional road racers, track specialists, bike messengers and urban cyclists competing over multiple laps around a fast technical circuit, and it happens right here in the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal!

Some of the businesses we work with will be providing specials during the race, including special Crit sandwiches from Fort Defiance, locally brewed beer from Sixpoint Brewery, and a host of local food vendors!

This is a great event that brings people from all over the world to Red Hook. SBIDC helped publish a special version of our Red Hook Visitor’s Guide for Crit spectators to come visit the vibrant and diverse businesses in Red Hook. Request For Proposals: Litter Basket Manufacturing

Agreement:

SBIDC has entered into an agreement with New York City Council to oversee the design, manufacturing and placement of 10 litter baskets in three neighborhoods in Council District 38: Sunset Park, Windsor Terrace, and Red Hook, Brooklyn. SBIDC seeks a qualified local vendor to manufacture the litter baskets.

Scope of Services:

SBIDC will evaluate the best responses and choose the most qualified local vendor. 10 litter baskets will be completed. Each litter basket will have a distinct neighborhood name fabricated within them. The distribution of the litter baskets will be as follows: two in Red Hook, two in Windsor Terrace, two in Sunset Park (4th Ave.), two in Sunset Park (5th Ave.), and two in Sunset Park (8th Ave.).

Timeline/Services Schedule:

Proposals should be submitted by January 21, 2015, COB. Contractor shall provide all services and complete any and all deliverables within New York City’s current  Fiscal Year 2015 (July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2015).
