Red Hook Walks – A Street Fair on Van Brunt!

SBIDC is proud to host our third annual Red Hook Walks street fair on Van Brunt Street on Friday June 9th! This year, Red Hook Walks is in collaboration with Dance Theatre Etcetera’s opening night of Red Hook Fest at PS 15’s playground.

Red Hook Walks is a fun, family friendly event that celebrates the vibrant spirit of Red Hook. We are closing Van Brunt between Visitation Street and Dikeman Street from 6:00pm till 10:00pm, and programming the street with fun activities for all!

Sidewalk cafes throughout Van Brunt

Blacksmith workshop with Marsha Trattner of She-Weld from 6-8:30pm between Dikeman and Wolcott

Tie-Dye (with free shirts) and giant games from 6-10pm between Dikeman and Wolcott

Hope & Anchor presents Zumba with Gina at 8:45pm (and later Karaoke) at Wolcott

A bounce house and Pete the Clown’s famous balloon animals between Wolcott and Sullivan 

Purchase art work by local art students at the Red Hook Art Project table between Wolcott & Sullivan 

Water balloons and an open hydrant between Sullivan and King

Bubbles and Cars between Sullivan and King

Pizza Eating Contest at 8:00pm at Mark’s Pizza between King and Pioneer. The first ten people to sign up get to participate. Sing up by emailing Winner gets two free tickets to the New York City EPrix (Formula E car race) at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal July 15th and 16th. Second place winner gets a SuperSoaker!

Spray Paint old clothing & Know Your Rights information with the South Brooklyn Tenant Union

Hopewell Care Childcare Cooperative will be sharing information about worker cooperatives and domestic worker rights, along with some materials about their soon to be launched childcare business. They will have activities and games for children between Pioneer and Visitation.

Red Hook Walks, A Street Fair on Van Brunt

SBIDC is hosting the second annual Red Hook Walks, a street fair on Van Brunt on Saturday July 16th from 2:00PM – 8:00PM.

Come play in the street with giant games like chess and Jenga, get creative with art projects hosted by RHAP Red Hook Art Project, groove to live music at two different stages hosted by Jalopy Theatre and School of Music and Sunny’s Bar, splash through open fire hydrants, and lay out to dry on our sod lawns!

Don’t miss pickup basketball and volley ball games, yoga and pilates classes hosted by Red Hook Pilates, and a skate park in the street! Citi Bike will be there with bikes to ride throughout the fair and free day passes!

Save your appetite for tasty treats at local businesses like BAKED and a pizza eating contest at Mark’s Pizza (first prize includes a yearlong Citi Bike membership, handy for when they expand to Red Hook in late August!). Kick back with a drink or a meal at many of Red Hook’s famous eateries and watering holes, which are hosting sidewalk cafes and outdoor seating this day only!
